Born in the heart of the Langhe, Barolo, in this case by Ettore Germano, represents one of the symbols of Italian oenology. Produced exclusively with Nebbiolo grapes grown on the Piedmont hills, this wine embodies the richness of the territory: calcareous soils, temperate climate and centuries of winemaking tradition. Elegant and structured, Ettore Germano’s Barolo best expresses the extraordinary vocation of a unique area in the world, where nature and culture come together in a glass of rare intensity.
Son of art, Sergio Germano had the ambition from a very young age to create a winery, to make wine from his own grapes and bottle them. In 1985, as soon as he finished his studies, Sergio began working in the family business in Serralunga and together with his father Ettore, he set up the first Chardonnays and created the first structure that allowed up to 5000 bottles to be bottled. Hence the beginning of the history of the Ettore Germano winery.
The grapes that produce this wine come from various lands in the municipality of Serralunga. The alcoholic fermentation takes place in vertical steel tanks with maceration on the skins for approximately 20/30 days. After racking and malolactic fermentation, the wine is introduced into oak barrels of different ages and capacities, for a refinement period of 18 to 24 months. After this period, bottling and refinement for approximately another 6 months in the bottle precede placing on the market.
